SB 1383
Our team is well versed in the specific requirements of SB 1383 and is prepared to assist and bring our clients into compliance with this detailed legislation.
In particular, we offer asssistance to facility operators and processors with contamination monitoring, waste evaluations, and route reviews (Sections 17409.5.2, 17409.5.3, and 17409.5.8), as well as education and outreach (utilizing strategies informed by the latest Community Based Social Marketing behavior change research), CalRecycle reporting, coordination with local food recovery organizations, capacity planning, and procurement of recovered organic waste products.

Waste Characterizations
ReCREATE Waste Collaborative designs and implements waste characterization studies. We conduct our fieldwork efficiently and safely, providing our clients with valuable insights into waste streams.
From municipal pilot projects to corporate sustainability waste audits, our waste characterization services will assist clients in tracking program effectiveness and identifying areas in need of improvement.
Commercial Technical Assistance
We specialize in supporting businesses in achieving compliance with state and local policies. Our staff knows exactly what to look for when providing technical assistance - from ensuring that bins are right-sized, indoor containers positioned properly, and recommending adjustments to kitchen protocol to maximize diversion. But most importantly, our team excels in conducting effective and persistent training to keep sustainability practices consistent.
Edible Food Recovery
We know that food is too good to waste. We also recognize the importance of working with local nonprofits to meet SB 1383 requirements and maximize diversion opportunities. That’s why we have partnered with food recovery organizations to develop incentive programs and certifications utilizing innovative food waste tracking technology.
Legislative Compliance Assistance
It’s no surprise that California legislation has created major changes to the way local governments approach their solid waste policies and programs. Our team helped to write some of the first local ordinances in the state to address AB 341/1826 requirements, and we’ve helped agencies work through the transition of implementing organics recycling programs.
We specialize in covered generator identification and outreach, develop communication messages to notify customers of changes, conduct stakeholder engagement, and track compliance progress for the Electronic Annual Report (EAR).
