  • Natalie Lessa, Co-Founder

    Natalie is a behavior change strategist that has spent the past 11+ years as a waste consultant specializing in solid waste policy planning and implementation across the nation. She leads the firm’s Education & Outreach team and partnerships with edible food and single-use plastic clients.

  • Kirk Kunihiro, Co-Founder

    Kirk leads the firm’s Waste Characterization team, overseeing project planning and logistics, data management, and logistical coordination with waste haulers and municipal staff to implement fieldwork for large-scale studies. Over the past decade he has worked with public, private, and non-profit organizations in the waste industry, from state agencies to local municipalities.

  • Kendra Schussel, Recycling Specialist II

    Kendra spent 15+ years in professional and school kitchens working as a chef before becoming overwhelmed with the amount of food and plastic waste. She leads projects for the Cities of Burbank and Glendale and provides SB 1383 implementation for organic waste and edible food.

  • Antonella Zamora Galvez, Recycling Specialist II

    Antonella leads municipal projects rolling out edible food and single-use plastic implementation projects in Palm Springs, Ceres, and for the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments. She has led multiple out-of-state outreach projects and as a waste characterization sorter in LA County.

  • Kathryn Erbelding, Recycling Specialist II

    Kathryn supports the team on hands-on statewide and local waste audits, conducts edible food inspections and provides boots-on-the-ground lid flip assessments and door-to-door outreach in various states and diverse communities.

  • Rebecca Allen, Recycling Specialist II

    Rebecca leads edible food recovery and plastics policy projects for the cities of Burbank, Glendale and Santa Clarita. She is a graduate of the Burbank Waste Warriors program and has a certificate in Sustainability from UCLA extension. Rebecca uses her improv and writing experience to affect change within the world of sustainability, waste reduction, and community building.

  • Katherine Moreno, Recycling Specialist I

    Katherine supports edible food recovery and route review projects.

    Prior to joining ReCREATE, Katherine worked for the Long Beach Office of Sustainability as a Green Business intern. Katherine also supports community composting efforts through her role as Youth Climate Corps intern with Long Beach Community Compost.

  • Rebecca Barron, Recycling Specialist I

    Rebecca is the lead edible food recovery technical assistance specialist for the City of Riverside. She develops relationships to establish programs.

  • Vanessa Camarena, Recycling Specialist I

    Vanessa brings her experience working as a team leader at Trader Joes to edible food recovery technical support to generators and organizations. She is the lead inspector for the City of La Mirada.

  • Fred Lagrandiere, Recycling Specialist II

    Fred assists with waste characterization and vehicle surveys. He has worked on a number of study types, including cart-based, disposal-based, and commercial generator-based, throughout California, Washington and New York.

  • Re'Shell Brown, Recycling Specialist I

    Re’Shell assists the team with cart tagging projects and education & outreach projects. She is a zero-waste advocate and possesses a passion for the work that she has gained over years of living a low waste lifestyle.

    Prior to joining ReCREATE she worked on the RecycLA program for a private hauler.

  • Xinyu Lin, Recycling Specialist I

    Xinyu supports ReCREATE on a variety of waste characterization studies, route review projects, and edible food recovery work. She is passionate about environmental justice and has a background in urban planning, community outreach, and food recovery.

  • Claire Glidden

    Claire brings her background in sustainability and waste transformation to support edible food recovery and route review projects. Prior to joining ReCREATE, she worked in the sustainability office for her school and interned at a local renewable energy cooperative.
